The BIG LIE called the 2021 “Public Interest Journalism Fund.”
What is it and why you must get very worried about it.
You must get worried because under the cloak of the NZ government’s 2021 55 million dollar “public interest journalism fund” is communist Labour’s censorship dagger. The $55M is extra to the 2020 hand out of $50M of taxpayer’s money already given to ensure that the media reports only what makes the government look good.
Government Media Release
Sounds really good, doesn’t it? But the terms and conditions of getting any taxpayer money show what it’s actually about. The “grassroots public interest journalism fund” is really the governments roots self-interest journalism fund.
Its real intent is increased “government propaganda” – plain and simple. The public must understand that the fund is a huge threat to democracy in NZ. The fun effectively puts NZ media under the governments control, just as it is in communist countries like China, North Vietnam and Russia.
Using a cunning and intentionally deceptive name and by setting subversive terms and conditions for getting money from taxpayers, the government will decide what the public is interested in, what issues the public will be informed about and what content the papers, radio and TV can produce for the public.
Your tax money will be used by the government to ensure the NZ media only tells taxpayers what the government wants them to hear.
To start with, the $55M will be given out in small amounts. Media that do as they’re told will get more. Media that don’t obey government dictates will not.
“Progressive” -> Socialism -> Communism
Expect that censorship-by-media-bribery to also selectively favour the government in any reporting before the next General Election. Also expect the proposed anti-hate speech legislation to similarly favour the government. Perhaps even to the point that criticising the government will get people arrested? Just like in communist countries.
Anything that’s not in the best propaganda interests of the government will be censored, or simply not reported – as if it never happened. That will be achieved willingly by the many pro-communism “useful idiots” journalists in the NZ media. Any ethical journalists will be blackmailed with a simple threat: you report what the government says or you’ll get no pay.
This is just another part of the 2021 NZ communist governments plan to kill democracy in New Zealand.
In case you have doubts that those who call themselves socialists are actually communists; remember the USSR? The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The Berlin Wall builders? Built to stop the population fleeing the wonders of communism. Complete with a huge army of Secret Police and no human rights, Russia and its surrounding states were all communist. Not socialist. It should really have been called USCR – the Union of Soviet Communist Republics.
The $105M total for this communist government’s political propaganda fund is coming from taxpayers’ pockets. To actually get their hands on some of the more recent $55M, here are some of the conditions that the media (Journalism) must comply with.
- Actively promote the principles of Partnership, Participation and Active Protection under Te Tiriti o Waitangi acknowledging Maori as a Te Tiriti partner.
- Maori and Iwi journalism is made by Maori about Maori perspectives, issues and interests prioritising the needs of Maori.
- Maori and Iwi journalism creates space and platform to give voice and representation to Maori, Iwi, hapu and hau kainga; Maori content, language, and perspectives on all issues deemed relevant locally, nationally and internationally.
- This spectrum of reporting is integral to the protection of te ao Maori* under article 2 of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and includes focus areas such as: Te reo Maori and tikanga matters; Historical accounts; Profile-based reporting; Tangihanga; Maori interest; Report from perspectives including Pacific, Pan-Asian, women, youth, children, persons with disabilities, other ethnic communities; Hold power (in its various forms) to account. (The government will be excluded, of course)
*Does the expression “te ao Maori” exist int he Treaty of Waitangi?
No! There is no such phrase in Article 2 of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Neither is there any mention of “participation, partnership and active protection.”
All that is just a fantasy; make believe; a part of successive governments’ lies made 10,000 times worse by the 2021 NZ Labour & Green Party communists.
From the Treaty….
Article Second
The Queen of England confirms and guarantees to the chiefs and the tribes and to all the people of New Zealand, the possession of their lands, dwellings and all their property. But the chiefs of the Confederation of United Tribes and the other chiefs grant to the Queen, the exclusive rights of purchasing such lands as the proprietors thereof may be disposed to sell at such prices as may be agreed upon between them and the person appointed by the Queen to purchase from them.
The approximate translation of “te ao Maori” is Maori world view.
Notice, too, the use of the phrases, “Nu Tirani” and “New Zealand”. The word Aotearoa is not found in the Treaty. Same goes for ‘tangata whenua’ or ‘mana whenua’. The Treaty only specifies “tangata Maori.”
